This is not a step-by-step guide. I'm assuming you have a general knowledge of current SL mesh heads, bodies, and skins, as well as BoM layers. If you do not, you may want to check out some basic info to bring you up to speed on what people are using these days. I have some info on my blog, as well as on my Youtube channel, so I'll link those below.
The real purpose of this blog is just to show an example of something I've talked about in the past. In my opinion, the best way to get a truly unique look in Second Life is to mix and match items that may not have originally been intended to be used together. When I chose my skin for example, I really liked the vendor photo but it was being shown on a different head than I intended to wear. I tried a demo and I really like it. It doesn't look just like the vendor photo, so just putting it on a different head made a difference right off the bat.
This is just the skin and nothing else, on a different head than intended, with a brow shaper I like from a previous look, and with "my" shape I made myself.
I'm not going to do a full style card here. I dont think anyone is interested in exactly recreating my look, and if they are, I would prefer they don't. lol I will however link all the stores I used items from to create this look. Go shop, explore, experiment, and try demos! It's fun to see what you can come up with!
