Enjoying Winter...From A Distance

Due to RL circumstances, I'm having a bit of a hard time getting in the holiday spirit this year.  However, I do have a lot to be grateful for. One of those things is that I can enjoy winter in SL, without having to shovel snow in RL!

Memories

So at one point a while back, I was under the impression that Blogspot/Blogger was going away.  I somehow also thought that Wordpress was more....professional.  Ugh...I lost all my followers and really do not love using Wordpress.  So...I'm back. Please bear with me while I remember how to use Blogger again, and work on getting some stuff posted and followers built up again!

All that being said, rather than move everything I'm going to post some of my very first blogs and then just move on, starting fresh!  Enjoy!

Follow me, I'll follow you back!

My very first blog for a designer, originally published Nov. 8, 2015 Glint - The View From The Pose Stand

We all know Glint Jewelry & Accessories is a great place to shop. The owner is amazingly accommodating, encouraging custom orders. The staff is friendly and helpful (well, we are! lol). And the jewelry is...WOW, with gorgeous designs and fabulous prices! There's always something going on at Glint. The store hosts a raffle, hunts, weekly sales and group gifts for both men and women.

So, that being said, what's Glint like 'behind the scenes' so to speak? In one word, ok two words..., EVEN BETTER! I am not only a new blogger, I'm a new model and brand new to the SL fashion industry as a whole. I was welcomed with open arms, even with my limited modeling experience, and encouraged to work and build my styling skills there. The owners and management are knowledgeable about the fashion scene as a whole and I'm learning a ton working with them. They encourage my other endeavors and offer help and guidance every step of the way.

So when you come to Glint, come for the gorgeous jewelry, but FEEL GOOD about shopping in a store where the staff cares about you as the customer, and the owner and management care about the staff.  We all love what we do and we hope to see you there soon!

Celebrating my first modeling class graduation, and all the other exciting things that happen when we're just getting started. Originally published Nov. 16, 2015 My SL Thanksgiving

So, I'm calling this a fashion blog.... as time goes on, I hope it'll be a lot of things. It'll be my place to think out loud and get your feedback, my place to rant and rave, my 'dear diary', and today my place to give thanks.

I have had the most amazing past few months, and last 48 hours especially. This past weekend has been the culmination of hard work, time invested, and the gracious help of many.  I graduated from Models R Us Academy last night, and while I was waiting to go on stage, I got the results that I was chosen for a holiday fashion show after my very first casting. I have an interview today at a very upscale shop for a live model and am waiting for results to come out about another casting I went to recently. WOW! There are still a bunch of things on my 'hope to have time to do' list, though I'm starting to have to pick and choose. There are only so many hours in the day, and my RL tends to interfere. LOL

At any rate, I didn't want this to be about me bragging about what "I" have done.  What I have done is show up.  No more, no less. I just keep showing up and observing all of you, and listening to the bits of wisdom and advice you choose to share with me. My real reason for this post is to give thanks.  I am so grateful to everyone who has taken time out of their days to support and encourage me.

In no particular order, they've all helped me so much, and are equally important to me as friends:

MzT of MRU - for providing a nurturing environment in which to learn

Devi Longfall, instructor MRU Academy - for being so patient, and helpful.  She's a wonderful teacher, always willing to give her time be it in class, or after hours.

My classmates at MRU Academy, Emma and Ker - we struggled together and supported each other. The class started out much larger, I'm glad you two stuck it out.  It wouldn't have been the same without you.  I hope our friendships continue to grow.

Blue Porchers, Runway Coach MRU Academy - Blue has become a dear friend and a big part of my SL. I cant think of anyone more generous with their time and knowledge.

Lady Falina, Runway Coordinator MRU Academy and Agency - What to say about Falina.. I think she knows how much I owe her, but she has yet to try to collect. lol  When I was first thinking about modeling, she gave me some very good advice, no holds barred, about what it would take to do well in this industry.  She educated me on the different schools, price ranges etc, and gave me the information I needed to start making my first choices wisely.  She has continued to set me on the right path every time I veer off course. She is what I consider a dear friend, and I value her opinion highly.

Rainbow Fairymeadow, Owner of Glint Jewelry and Accessories - Rainbow gave me my first real job as an SL model. She didn't care that I hadn't graduated from classes yet, like some designers require. She took me in and gave me a place to strengthen my styling skills. I will always be grateful for that and truly enjoy working with her.

Gracelyn McKenzie, Manager at Glint Jewelry and Accessories and Instructor at Audace School of Modeling - Grace has also been a huge supporter. She welcomed me to the shop with open arms, and after talking a bit, encouraged me to broaden and continue my education. She is now one of my instructors at Audace. Another person who's opinion I value highly.

All of the new friends I'm making in the SL fashion industry every day - This community is amazing, and it's because all of you are amazing. There is a core group here that support each other. I see very little 'cattiness' or back stabbing, which quite frankly sort of surprised me.  There are fewer divas and more really genuine nice people than I would have guessed.

Lastly, all of my friends outside of the industry - You guys know who you are and you totally ROCK! Many of you became friends/supporters of me as a DJ.  As I've explored other things, you continue to stand behind me and for that I am VERY grateful.  I never want to trade in old friends for new ones.  I need you all.

If I have missed anyone, I am truly sorry. So many people have had a hand in making this one of the coolest experiences of my SL. Thanksgiving is still a week and a half away, but today I am very grateful.

This is not a great photo, but I just love it! Check out the location! Trashy Whore Trailer Park! LMAO Originally published Dec. 17, 2015 A Diva's Day Off

When we're not dressed to the nines, burning up the runway, sometimes we're.....this.  LOL  Enjoy!

My first "title", this blog was written and the picture taken before I realized just how long this pageant would go on, and just how much work it would be! Originally published Aug. 27, 2016 Catalysis - MISS V♛ France 2017

After our first official meeting today, I am excited, nervous, honored, nervous, looking forward to getting started, and did I mention nervous? LOL So many amazingly talented models and stylists in this pageant, I'm really thrilled to be part of it all!

We were given a theme to style for the meeting, so when I got home I thought I'd take a pic to save it for posterity. So here I am, wearing my classic beret, in none other than my fabulous Paris bedroom!  :)

Including this memory, mostly just cuz I love how this pic came out. Originally published Jun. 25, 2107 Another side of me...

While I usually consider myself a “girly-girl”, there is something about this urban-casual look that I’m drawn to lately.  It’s the other side of me…one of many perhaps…the strong, independent woman behind the usual pink lipstick and long, flowing hair.
